About 20 people gathered to hear 18-year-old flute sensation Jonny Lipford perform Nov. 3 at Singing Bird Lodge. The Florida teen was in Iowa to help Randy Stenzel make his signature flute. Jonny played a variety of flutes along with a musical backtrack that he recorded earlier. His CD of original music may be sampled at www.jonnylipford.com

Angel starts to make a despacho for Daniel and Barbie's wedding last June at Devil's Glenn Park in Bettendorf. A despacho is a prayer bundle created from special ingredients, including rose petals and leaves given from each person with an intention. Sue admires one of her gifts while at a party to send her off to a woman's group visiting the shamans in Peru.
Angel and Janet admire the drum circle altar that Bob and Carol brought featuring sand and soil from their travels. Drum circle is held the last Sunday of the month at Black Hawk Lodge in Rock Island.

People enjoy talking at the annual River Circle potluck, held at Singing Bird Lodge each June. After the meal we present a special reading and acting out of traditional stories honoring the creation and the ways of the world.

Daniel and Barbie proceed to light their unity candle as River Circle members watch. Later the despacho that Angel made was rubbed against Daniel and Barbie to transfer its energy to them. It was offered to a sacred fire that night for transformation of the blessings.
Many members of River Circle attended Daniel and Barbie's wedding ceremony last June in Devil's Glenn Park in Bettendorf. After creating sacred space, each person offered a wedding gift beside the cloth altar in the center. Meg conducted the ceremonial rituals for the couple.
